Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Dogs In Danger

My first thought is why you think your cat is underweight. Did your veterinarian tell you this or are you just assuming based on your cat's appearance? If you haven't yet spoken with your veterinarian, I'd suggest you take your cat to the vet to get checked out. He/she will be able to tell you exactly whether your cat is underweight, and if so, what course of action to take. Good luck.

I have 5 cats, 2 have been diagnosed with hyperthroidism. I have since learned that it is very common in cats. One of the many symptoms is weight loss. If your cat has always been thin it may be just it's genetic make up or there may be another issue. If your cat has had a change in weight, it would be a good idea to make a visit to the Vet. As in humans the thyroid gland can over produce the hormone resulting in the body not being able to process nutrients efficently. Your vet can do a test called a T4 to check your cats thyroid levels. There is medication available to level out the thyroid hormone. There are also other options such as surgery or radiation therapy (expensive). I have chosen to keep my cats on medication. They are older and may not do well with the other options available. My suggestion would be to consult a Vet. There could be many reasons that your cat is thin. An expert would be best to answer this question. Good Luck

Well my friend has fat cats that used to be fat and she gives them dry food in the morning and only wet food in the afternoon.

I cant wait to answer your questions!

Tongue out

First of all your cat might not be ''underweight'' because some cats are just naturally skinnier than others.Second,it is not healthy to force your cat to eat more or anything like that.Third,if your cat really does have a weight problem it might be sick.In conclusion before you take any step of action take your kitty to the

vet.
