I am going with Ubuntu. Ease of use, costs, security, plus ability to use peripherals without having to get all sorts of drivers makes it a winner in my mind.
Could add cost, but "free" beats everytihng.
once u plug a usb device, ubuntu automatically sees it, same goes to vista except for few cases
however even if you'll manage to find a device ubuntu won't recognize there's always help in forums (small advantage 4 ubuntu)
