Trends Affecting the Market for Classical Music in the US

How can I learn about trends in (or affecting) the market for classical music in the US?

This includes.

  1. recent surveys of concert-goers (or potential concert-goers).
  2. information about who "consumes" classical music (goes to concerts, buys music, etc): for instance, what age group goes most, and is that age group going to increase or decrease in the coming years?
  3. information about the popularity of live vs. recorded music, and in particular the phenomenon of downloadable music (iTunes etc).
