Travelers Checks or credit card

I am planning on going to the far east for a week's vacation. Which is better - travelers checks or credit card?

I believe it depends on where you want to go. There are certain places in which you won't be able to use neithr of the two, and even if you can - it will take longer than you have on such a short trip.

If you go for one week only, I assume you'll stay in a big city. If so - then both will do.

the good thing about them is that they are both insured. If they get stolen - you get the money back.

I personally prefer credit cards - they are accepted everywhere and you don't have to go to the bank to cash them in.

I agree. Sometimes banks take a high commision on cashing a check - something like 4%. Go with a credit card.

traveler's checks are a pain. i'd suggest using your debit card at local ATM's for the best rate. credit cards often charge you as much as 3% extra to convert the currency.
