I have come into this world to experience this: men so true to love they would rather die before speaking an unkind word..to see this:the sword drop from men's hands even at the height of their arc of rage because we have finally realized there is just one flesh we can wound. ~Hafiz~

Wikipedia has more on this subject if you are interested. I lived near the trail myself until recently and I had never heard the story so it was fascinating to read about it. The Trail of Tears was the forced relocation and movement of Native Americans from their homelands to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma ) in the Western United States. The phrase originated from a description of the removal of the Choctaw Nation in 1831. Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while en route to their destinations, and many died, including, for example, 4,000 of the 15,000 relocated Cherokee. I hope this helps.
