Trading stocks for a living

I'm thinking about trading stocks for a living. It seems to me that when you know the markets well, it's not too difficult to make a living from it. I know there are books about it, but my question is who is it to do it for a living? Is it hard work? Do you have to be near your computer 24/7 or can you afford to take long weekends and so on?

I blog about ebdex Document Exchange, EIPP, e-invoicing, start-ups, funding, entrepreneurship, and other business related topics

I used to trade Contracts for Differences (CFDs) as well as listed shares. I never used large amounts so what I made was fairly small return. If you are going this way, set up incremental targets. I managed to beat my 6 month target, and then struggled to set further targets. Then I started ebdex, and that was the end of my relationship with the stock market

boris:  i can't tell if your question is serious or a satire.  by definition there are no easy ways to earn a living; if there were, everyone would be doing it instead. there is nothing easy about investing in the market.  there are a limiless number of ways to try and figure out what a stock should be worth and none of them always work.  every successful investor has figured out a different way to understand the market and you have to do the same for yourself.  my advice is to trade a "paper" portfolio first to see how you do and then start with a very small portfolio with real money.  very few people can make a living trading stocks full time.  good luck

Read "Fooled by Randomness" written by Nassim Nicholas Taleb.  If you think you are a lucky man/woman, you definitely should go to trade stocks for living. :)
