Tokens in the Boston "T" underground train

The Boston, MA underground (MBTA, AKA "the T") is transitioning from use of metal tokens to payment cards. Until when will the old tokens be accepted? Are they still sold?

Interesting question. Actually the MBTA don't know the exaclt answer themseves. Quoting from the bottom of this page:

Please note that new fareboxes are being installed throughout the summer and fall on MBTA buses and Green Line vehicles. At this time due to the regular redeployment of our vehicle fleet on various routes and lines, we cannot provide specific information on which bus routes may be completely converted to new fareboxes.
