How can I raise a toilet up about 1/2" off the floor? What do you set it on to raise it up and what hardware do you use to extend the pipes to meet the raised toilet?
If I can't do it right I won't do it
Why do you want it off the floor?
It is too involved for me to explain. I have to raise the toilet to the same height as other things that are sitting on the carpet around the toilet. I can't raise the toilet seat for example, it has to be the toilet itself. I went online to find a company that has a thing that raises the toilet 3" to be ADA heigth. That won't work for this because I only need it raised 1/2"-1." I need to know how to raise it above it's current flooring (wood is under the carpet) so it is stable and then what plumbing things you need to attch the pipes and seal it???? Thanks for your help.
Plumber
This is not something that can be done with traditional methods. I have seen some toilets set on a piece of wood cut to match the footprint of the toilet, but is not a common thing. The ring that your toilet attatches to is called a closet flange, they do make closet flange extenders which are generally 1/4 inch thick and can be stacked. Use silicone between the layers to seal then together. You may need to use longer t-bolts or longer all thread rods (thats the rods that you tighten the nuts on to hold the toilet down.) good luck.
