Tipping couriers

I bought a new washing machine a few months ago with 3 years warranty. When I got it on the first time a gave the couriers a nice tip. The machine had stopped working after few uses and the company sent the couriers to take it back. Few days later I got a new one and I felt like the couriers are expecting for a tip so I gave them half of the tip I gave them last time, and they were definitely not satisfied.

What do you think about that? Would you tip the service guys every time they come ? Should I pay for their company faults again and again?

On the other hand these guys are working pretty hard...

One should only give a tip for EXTRAORDINARY or SPECIAL service - going out of their way to satisfy the client. These people are employed to deliver goods to a firm's client and get paid for doing just this.  I dont believe it is necessary to tip them for doing their jobs.

Of course they won't be satisfied with a small tip if on a previous occassion they received a larger one.

They get a special reward for working hard - they get to keep their jobs
