A:As soon as your child can walk, and understand that restriction is discipline then a time out is appropriate. Of course you will have to help them understand the concept with consistancy and patience. He/she will get up, but you just keep sitting them down for the time out. Soon they will associate the time out with the negative behavior they have displayed.
