I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 9 years ago and I had nuclear iodine radiation treatments (2), now, I am "hypo".  I have to take "syndroid" medication, because my thyroid does produce enough thyroide hormone. This medication gets my thyroid levels, which are now "hypo" to their regular levels.  Follow you doctor's advise and check your levels every 3 months. You will be on medication for the rest of your life.
