Throat pain after tongue pierce

Will my throat hurt if I get my tongue pierced?

Will I have problems swallowing?

Thanks

"Whom the gods would destroy, they first drive mad."  Euripides.

The more we see of the words of Obamites, the closer they come to madness.

Only we who keep our sanity will survive the Obamite rebellion.

Tongue-piercing has a number of severe drawbacks.

1.  It is a "shock-punk" look that identifies you as the member of a gang that requires that ritual.  Expect reprisal from gang members who view it as "trespass of their colors."

2.  You will have a great deal of trouble swalllowing, because the post will push deeply into your lower salivary gland which is painful at best.  It can be very annoying to have that uncomfortable thing in your mouth all the time, and you will not be able to resist playing with it because it is so uncomfortable.

3.  Those who have had it done face a far greater incidence of staph infection around the post than others do.

Tattoos done by professionals rarely spread tetanus anymore, but in the past, when tattooists used the same needle on any number of people, spreading hepatitis and AIDS was a common menace.

Past that, do you REALLY want to get along with the people who delight in such things?

I had a tongue ring for a few years and just took it out a year and a half ago. I never experienced any problems with my throat or swallowing. The first day or two my tongue was a bit swollen and I talked a bit funny, but beyond that I had no problems. Still, I should warn you that one of the reasons why I took it out is because it made a small chip in on of my front teeth. It is very small, small enough for the dentist to ignore it, but still I felt that you should know that there are some side effects. Good luck!

To be born free is a gift.

To live free is a privilege.

To die free is our duty.

There are tribes in Africa, where the women "beautify" themselves by putting larger and larger implements of torture in their lips, ears, and places where only a gynecologist has a reason to look.

What they fail to tell you at the piercing shop is that girls there have far stronger immune systems than girls do here.

I know someone who had it done. It scraped off the enamel of teeth causing many problems with her teeth and she wished she never had it done.
