A:

Great. Noble. Sounds great. "No-kill animal shelter in every city." Wow.

So you've at least got the shelters open. That's great. Now : What about everyday expenses : How long are these shelters going to be open : in terms of years, in terms of daily hours? And who's going to staff them, how much are they to be paid, who's going to run the place, how are you going to receive the animals, who will determine which "animals" need to be placed in your shelters and how long each animal will stay and what food and water and vitamins and medical care the animals will receive? What happens when you run out of space? You didn't specify you'd steal money for either upkeep or future expansion. You also didn't talk about prevention. Are you going to include neutering and spaying? For free? How do you get services donated or volunteers to run the place or raise enough money for an endowment or operating expenses, etc. "No-kill" is a great aim, too. Believe me, I know. But pragmatically : where do you ever stop in terms of receiving abused and/or neglected animals?

Also here : What do you mean by "animal"? Which animal or animals? Would you include human animals? You'll need shelters within the shelters to house all those animals -- says ducks and snakes and lizards and toads and fish and cats and horses and pigs and dogs and chickens and parakeets -- at least for starters.

Yeah : "animal abuse and/or neglect." It IS awful isn't it? I have two pets myself. Both strays. And I love them incredibly much.

But humans are animals too,  RutgersAlum2005. And human animals can suffer terribly from abuse and/or neglect. Horribly. Terribly.

In fact, did you know that Hitler himself was beaten as a child? That many of the Germans Hitler so seamlessly appealed to were also beaten or whipped as kids? And what about the human animals for whom abuse and/or neglecting animals is appealing? From what place in the human mind/psyche/will/etc. does this stem? A HUGE amount of research goes to show that such human animals have themselves been abused and/or neglected. Maybe do some research here. Maybe there's something here.

Might you then not put a somewhat higher priority in stopping "animal abuse and/or neglect" where it begins : with human animal abuse and/or neglect?

Then there might be no "ignorant person" who would even dream of be found "guilty of animal abuse and/or neglect." Whether of the type of animals you I assume are envisioning would end up at your "no-kill animal shelters" or whether they're human animals -- those who can think of no better way to spend their lives than, using some means or another, in abusing and/or neglecting other animals, human or otherwise.
