Thermofoil cabinet laminate removal.

I have thermofoil cabinets.  Moisure in the home has caused the laminate to seperate in many areas and most edges.  Can I take it all off? Is so, how.  I would rather just paint the MDF underneither to a simple white.  Any ideas?  I would rather try to recycle before I replace them.  I like the layout,  size and the inside of the cabinet upgrades.  Any ideas?  Deb
