Unfortunately there's no sure way of doing so...

You can hope your neighbors will be filled with the Christmas spirit and therefore will abstain, and that everybody wants to enjoy a nicely decorated house, but there's no sure way of preventing theft, or there wouldn't be thieves in the world.

You might try to make sure not to use too expensive decorations, and to be too extravagant.

I think getting a dog is a good solution and keeping the light on during the night might startle the thieves.

Willing to meet intellectuals

People get millions of ideas to steal valuables.

Put the cheapest decorations out side, and good ones inside.

make it so lights come on when touched or they zapped or something that will starttle them somehow without hurting them.

try to get decorative items that are not soo expensive. instead of getting expensive ones.. go for cheaper and smaller things such as pots and crafted items that no theif wants to take as they are no crystals or diamonds..

on the other hand, if you have expensive items.. try to gets ones that are too heavy and need a car or some truck to be taken..or ones that get attached to the floor or wherever they are placed.. sticking them up with glue is also a nice idea
