Can anyone recommend a beutiful, quiet beach island in south thailand?  Not looking for party or 5* resort island.

if you want a quiet Island, chose either Koh Phi Phi or Koh Pangan. Do take in account that Full Moon parties take place at Koh Panghan onve a month, so if that somes out during your time there - chose Koh Phi Phi (the movie "the beach" with Leo DiCaprio was filmed there...)

these 2 choices are small quiet islands, absolutely beautiful, with smaller hotels etc. as opposed to the bigger Thai Islands that are busier and touristy-er.

enjoy!!

Another thing to think about is the fact that Koh Phi Phi and Koh Pangan can get really busy during high season. There are also day trips you can take to small islands in the area that you might enjoy. I suggest you head out with an open mind and enjoy the recommendations of the locals. Also take into account that weather issues are important and an attempt to avoid the crowds might cause you to meet endless days of rain.

Have a great vacation.

Also check Ko Tao

Very impressive variety of marine life around the island, great for both diving and snorkeling

Enjoy.

Actually, the nicest island - albeit a bit difficult to get to (about 1.5 hours by ferry) is Koh Lipe (close to where they filmed the first season of survivor). Great diving, beautiful beaches, very quiet, no parties and much less touristy than Koh Phi Phi and the likes.
