Tequila and Agave

I've been told today that Agave, the plant which they make Tequila from, may get extinct soon, and much of the Tequila we drink today is old and was stored for a long period of time in barrels. Maybe someone has some more information on the issue??

Half of it is true, there is a shortage of agave and there's a small small risk that agave will be extinct. if there will be a real problem, they will grow it  artificially (all agave needs is heat - the desert will be fine for that) .

There seems like there is a problem with the Tequila market. There  is some uncontrolled growing of Agave which will be harvested this year.
