Tenant landlord verbal agreement to catch up on late rent payment can he evict when agreement is followed?

Can a landlord give you an eviction notice when you have made a verbal agreement with him to pay a non-specific amount of monies weekly to get caught up on your rent and payments are being made? Lets say you pay a payment on Sat. and he decides to give you an eviction notice on Monday. Is that legal after a verbal agreement is made and a weekly payment has been given on that Sat?
