I have a Tecknic975/3 (siemens se5tie) Dish Washer draining problem.Can you help?

I have a Tecknic975/3 (siemens se5tie) DW. It fails to expel the water. I have checked that thereis no blockage. I have checked the pump is working. I have checked the mechanism that triggers the pump manually and it does then discharge. The float rises making contact energising the switch contact. There must be a problem before this in the system. I'd really value someones help. I've been on the siemens site which gives a good exploded diagram & parts but I really can't figure out what to test next. Many thanks Mike mikeww@sky.com

Who wants to talk?

If you checked the switch that engages the pump and you had to do it manualy, then the switch is bad.you can check the switch with a ohms meter.turn on dishwasher, and when it gets to the drain cycle, put the meter leds on the switch contacts,it should read 120volts,it might be a little under that, but not much, maybe 119,118.the other thing it could be,is if you put a new garbage disposal in,there is a plug inside the drain, that the dishwasher hooks to,on disposal, its a knock out plug.you can stick a screwdriver in the drain hole and punch it out.I hope this helps, its really hard to say for sure without being there.Just some obvious pointers.Good luck.If you could explain more to me I think we could figure it out together.Maintrx.

But raising the float tripped the switch which engaged the pump so I think the switch is fine?

Thanks

Who wants to talk?

so the pump works? If it is working then somthing is blocking it from draining.are you sure the pump is working,if it is making a humming noise then its locked up,if its working it will be loud and water will be shooting out somwhere. It really sounds like the motor is tied up,but I cant see it you could try to tap on the motor when its on.I will not give up until you or we figure it out.write back.Maintrx
