Who Does Your Taxes for you?

Do you do your taxes yourself or pay someone to do it for you? Who taught you exactly what to do the first time you've done it?

I'm afraid I'm getting overwhelmed.

You have brains in your head, feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose.

My parents always did my taxes for me and then my Dad just explained to me one time how to do it in my own.  It's not too bad or complicated.  Just get someone you know that knows how to do their taxes to show you and to explain how it works.  Good luck.

Sorry to hear that you are getting overwhelmed.

I pay someone to do it.  It's much too complex, and my time is at a premium.  Probably when I retire I will handle this exclusively by myself, but I need to set time aside to learn income tax enough.

Like most people, I learned about paying income tax, opening accounts, saving money, etc by myself.  I'm hoping that I can teach my children everything I know when they get older.

I have not only done my own taxes but the taxes of various friends and/or family members for probably about 10 years now.  I use the computer program, TaxAct but have also used various others over the years.  It is not complicated and I even itemize, e-file and have the refunds direct deposited.  I am able to prepare both federal and state returns with the same program and it costs less than $20.  The program asks you questions that you answer and it progresses you through the entire preparation process.  I have never had a problem with this and I will continue filing my taxes like this for many, many years to come.

Good luck!

If you are feeling overwhelmed, then it 's time to have a professional do your taxes for you!! it's worth every cent!! My older brother taught me how to do mine, but as I got older I just let a pro do it!! again, it's worth it to me, no matter what it costs!!!!!!! Give yourself a break!!

Do you KNOW anyone who was the victim of a tax scam? Isn't this the kind of thing that always happens to other people?
