Tax Lien Question

My boyfriend used to own a business and before i met him he messed up and didnt pay his taxes he was audited by the state and they set up a payment plan for him. He closed his business and got a fulltime job but didnt have a checking account so I was writing his payment checks and sending them in. I sent out a payment and for some reason it got to them a day late so they said that he defaulted he called them and talked to them and they sent him out new paper work to start a payment plan again before he could send back the paperwork they sent him a notice of a tax lein the bank they have listed though is my bank. Can they take my money out of my accoujnt because i wrote the check for him????
