Taking a turn with a car

My question is associated with the best way to take a turn with a car. If you'd like to lose as little speed as possible, Should you take the turn from wide to narrow (Car placement in relation to the left side of the road, i.e narrow means close too the left) or the opposite ?

I agree with Oren, but have recently been introduced to another theroy that says that you should turn it sharper at the apex of the corner, the middle of the turn closest to the inside curbing, not drifting all the way to the out side of the turn.  the theroy being that the sharper turn decreases min corner speed, but the more direct line and freed up lateral load on the tires will increase accelaration over the course of the staight to a benifit.  I am not sure if this acctually works I have yet to try it but the theroy sound plausable although if it works on lower power cars is questionable, momentum theory ect.

If you are on right turn you should go from right to left, and vice versa. The car is naturally dragging to opposite side of the turn, and you should let it go with this drag in order to lose as little speed as possible.

The fastest way around a given corner would be on the widest radius the road allows, which means entering the corner from the outer edge of the turn, turning into the inner edge (which requires an earlier entry than what you're used to) and drifting back to the outer edge on the exit.

However, the fastest way around the corners is usually NOT fastest way to get to the next turn! You should also take into consideration what you have after the corner you're entering, and if you have a long straight there your line should be altered accordingly. In this case, the most important thing to consider is your exit speed, because maximizing your exit speed will allow you to save a lot of time on the next straight. To get the best exit speed you should brake for slightly longer, enter the corner a bit later, taking a tighter line on the entry and  then, as soon as the road allows, start straightening the car and apply more throttle.

For more information you can check out this web page, and the whole site it comes from is also very good.
