I am 63 and a make well over $150,000 per year. My wife will be 62 in March. She now works as a substitue teacher and makes about 12,000 per year. My question is should she take Social security at 62 because her income would be less than $18,000? If she does that will our family income require her to pay the 2 for 1 penalty and if so should we file separate returns to avoid that?
