TV choice

The "Plasma vs LCD" issue has been discussed before, hope you will find it helpful. 

the best thing you could do is buy an lcd tv. lcd screens in general consume less power, last longer, dont get as hot as plasma, and they wheigh alot less. plasma has a average life span of about 5-6 years, lcd does have a similer life span (due to the cold cathode ray tube that lite's up most screens). but lcd can be fixed with reletive ease, the tube can be replaced by a service company for a relitivly small ammount of money (consittering you dont have to ship)

Keep in mind though that technologies change at a rapid pace, and consumer products, even expensive ones like a TV, are replaced every few years. Do you think you will want a new TV / whatever-display-is-common-in-6-years in a few years in any case? If yes, you might go for the most cost-effective solution today (e.g. Plasma).
