TTC with obstacles, please help!

I got married when I was 29 years old and then spent a year enjoying just our selves. But after that we've been TTC for last 3 years. I wish I were young now at my early 20s, so that I don't have to panic about thinking Ill be 35 soon. Ob/Gyn doc diagnosed me with PCOS and my husband's SA showed he has motility problem & low sperm count. I am on metformin now for less than a year, but there is no medication for him. He was suggested to go for varicocele surgery. With all these obstacles in the way just to have a bundle of joy of our own we tried IUI twice and devastated by no luck. We were wondering is there anyone out there having the same problems that we have and succeeded after the varicocele surgery with IVF in the first cycle? Because as IVF is very expensive we only could use it just one time (our insurance won't allow us to repeat the procedure). Please help, we are so desperate and our biological clock is ticking:( Please feel free to give us any advice that could help us. May God bless us all, Amen.

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

I'm sure there are cases in which women conceived on the first IVF attempt after varicocele surgery, but I can't think of any specific experiences I can share with you.

Assuming you get a good number of eggs and many of those are fertilized, you could have enough to freeze and transfer later. Frozen embryo transfer is much less expensive.

My best piece of advice to you is to find a clinic that tends to freeze a high percentage of embryos and that has a good success rate with them. This will be a good fallback for you & will give you another chance.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot Rachel! I will obviously consider the Frozen Embryo Transfer and ask my Ob/Gyn about it. We met with an Urologist couple of days back and after testing; my husband was suggested not to go for the varicocele surgery. Doc said my husband has little V, but he believes that won't help his motility problem. Rather he was suggested to have some vitamins (e.g., E and C) and stay away from heat. So there is nothing for him to boost up his sperm count and motility. I am wondering is there any vitamins or minerals or medications that help us to become more fertile? And soon we'll go for the IVF and are there any suggestions for us? One last thing, I found that both the IUI (I went through 2 failed IUI cycles) were done after my ovulations (i.e., egg white discharge) ended. I think that's why those cycles were not successful. Does this happened to others or it's just me? I don't know even after drowning blood and testing for the hormonal levels, how they make mistakes! Please tell me, what is the success rate for IVF and if it fails what are the reasons for it? And how can we get ready to minimize the failure rate (FYI. I’ve PCOS). Thanks a lot in advance for your answers. Please help... our hearts are breaking :((
