My car (corvette) is a 1988 and has 114,000 miles on it. I use a blend motor oil in it now. Can i switch to a full synthetic motor oil ? I use Royal Purple in all my other cars and have pick up better gas mileage and power, I would like to use it in this car. Can anyone help me with this ?

Yes you can change to either a full synthetic or a synthetic blend. Make sure as always that you change filter and remove all of the other oil first.  Synthetic helps keep the engine cooler as it does not break down as redily as the  standard grades.  By not breaking down in extreme weather you can experience longer engine life and in some cases better fuel mileage as it is lubricating better.

By all means, switch to Royal Purple, it cannot hurt and is a better alternative to conventional motor oils. I have used it in all my Vettes so far. Doesnt matter if you never used it before.

AMSOIL  First in Synthetics since 1972

I have been a AMSOIL dealer since 1985 & I have run it in all my vehicles & equipment ever since then. And I can tell you, AMSOIL was the worlds first to be marketed in 1972 & in my opinion (& the opinion of hundreds of thousands of others) superior to all others!

In answer to your question, I would first have a compression check done. If the results are good, then switch to pure Synthetic. I do of course recommend AMSOIL. If you need information on AMSOIL, you may contact me: www.amsoilcertified@yahoo.com  or, go to AMSOIL's web site: www.amsoil.com

I hope I have been of assistance.

Sincerely,

dabbssd

Post script: I failed to advise you & others of the following:

It is important that the engine (any engine with more than 5,000 miles) is throughly flushed before instalation of AMSOIL.  The reason for this is to remove the built-up sludge & contamanents.  It always pays to put new/clean oil into a clean engine. This will give you the greatest increase in fuel economy, horsepower, torque etc.

Also, everyone running AMSOIL Motor Oil should of course run AMSOIL Oil Filters. 5X finer filtration!
