Side cramping is not a symptom that is unique to pregnancy. It is very possible that you are just experiencing pre-menstrual cramping. Unless you have some other symptoms, like morning sickness or headaches (etc), I would not be too concerned about the cramps. You can read more about early symptoms of pregnancy
It depends what time of the month it is .... usually pain on one side is a symptom of ovulation.
