Sweet Grass

Hey there Sam; I'm new; and you seem to be very wise - so... everytime I ask someone this question, they think I'm asking about something else and I'm NOT!

Do you know where I could buy sweet grass/actual grass that smells sweet?

American Indians used it frequently for braiding or burning. It is my favorite smell in the world and I miss it; and I wish I could find some to grow in my yard. I used to grow it where I lived years ago and used it for it's scent and braided it to make decors and such. It smells so good; a natural scent that even men love it! I did find a fella who knew what I was talking about, but he wanted $75 for a plug. That seemed a bit high in price. Could you please advise? Thank you - Catalina

If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

Don't you have some growing wild in your neighborhood?  What I call sweet grass is what dogs like to chew on.  If you let it grow it gets fairly tall.

I'm from the same area as you.  I've seen it advertised on the web for $7 a plug, but from the pictures I see, I think it's the same thing as we have around here growing wild.  If you can't find any around your house, go over to the Milk River (where it crosses Jefferson by the Ford mansion) and look around there.  I'd offer you the run of my back yard to look at what the dogs chew on when they visit, but I won't post my address in public.
