I am looking for complete information on Surface Mount Technology (SMT). I am an engineer and need a reliable source of information on SMT and Surface Mounting including Surface Mounting Process and Technology, SMT Equipments, SMD Components and all other relevant information. I will be glad if someone can let me know the best and reliable source of information on Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

Surface Mount Technology or SMT is a new technology for soldering or mounting SMD (Surface Mount Devices) on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). SMT uses Flat Electronics to solder on the PCB thus saving real estate / space on the PCB. This makes devices and gadgets smaller, slim and miniature.

SMT Equipments are different from their Through-hole counterparts. SMT Equipments include:

    * Pick-and-Place Machine for SMT
    * Wave Soldering Equipment
    * Reflow Soldering Equipment for SMT
    * Solder Paste Screen Printer for SMT
    * Curing / Baking Oven for SMT
    * Solvent Cleaning in SMT
    * Repair and Inspection Equipment for SMT

SMD Components include:

* Surface Mount Resistors and Capacitors
* Leadless Ceramic Chip Carriers (LCCC)
* Ceramic Leaded Chip Carriers (CLCC)
* Small Outline Transistors (SOT)
* Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC and SOP)
* Plastic Leaded Chip Carriers (PLCC)
* Small Outline J Packages (SOJ)
* Fine Pitch SMD Packages (QFP, SQFP)
* Ball Grid Array (BGA)
