I returned from out of town to find my A/C not working - totally dead, several lights much dimmer than usual and my electric stove has power (the light comes on) but none of the elements heat. I've switched all the breakers on and off to no avail. Any suggestions?
sounds like a neutral open somewhere. I have seen older homes (40+yrs) with corroded or loose main neutrals in the meter base or the panel box. Check voltage across main lugs, then fron each to neutral. (please don't try this if you have never done it before)
Power company evaluated and it's a break somewhere outside of my house. I have a portable transformer which provides power while they look for the problem (which means they're digging up my lawn).
