Help the UN feed people by playing a game Go to freerice.com For every correct answer in the game, rice is donated to hungry people It's FREE, fun, and educational.  To feed animals for free, go to http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive.  "What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

ubstitutes:  citrus zest (for seasoning) OR pepper (for seasoning) OR herbs (for seasoning) OR soy sauce (for seasoning) OR hatcho miso (especially in hearty soups and stews; 1 teaspoon salt = 2 tablespoons hatcho miso) OR salt substitute OR kelp powder OR omit (Reducing salt in a recipe reduces sodium, but doing so may impair flavor and, in the case of baked goods, texture. Since salt enhances flavorings, use more of them if you reduce salt in a recipe.) OR marinades (marinating meats enhances their flavor)

I copied that from http://www.foodsubs.com/Salt.html

The commercial stuff makes me queasy just looking at the ingredients.  I would suggest your guest bring their own with them, as they will have found one they can tolerate the taste of.

Innocentthe best gift in life is life itself.

My grandma has high blood pressure among many other health issues and she use's sea salt. you don't need to use alot of course it's salty but truely a little can go along way. plus SEASALT has a something that is healthy for u i can't remember what it's call but table salt doesnt have it. i hope that i was helpful even if your guest is completely against salt it is better alternative to try for yourself !!!

If your guest is a friend or someone you can speak frankly with you should explain that salt is not the risk to blood pressure that most people think it is. This is a common misunderstanding.

The real problem is an imbalance of sodium, magnesium and potassium that is caused by eating an unbalanced diet. Processed foods for example, have too much salt and not enough of the other two minerals. People who shake salt over everything also get an imbalance.

The answer is not to eliminate salt but to change your diet to eat natural, whole foods that have the proper balance of nutrients. A modest magnesium supplement may also help.

What's more, many salt substitutes are artificial, processed, commercial products that can do more harm than good. Fake food is never better than the original.

Salt is a tasty and healthy condiment when used sensibly in a healthy diet. There is no reason to become a salt tea-totaller and to impose your unnecessary and unreasonable habits on your host!
