I think that going back to school is definitely a good idea.  I know that society can be really unforgiving, but you have to remember that all it takes is one person or organization, to trust you and give you a chance.  That's why you can't give up.  If I were you, I would talk to several people and family members that you know, just to see if someone can set you up with some sort of job.  Then, I would apply to start studying again, so you can get a degree that you can use to make more money.  I would recommend jobs like being a secretary, working in a book store, a coffee shop... at the beginning, and then while studying your degree, try to get to know people and do internships... so you will be setting yourself up for better opportunities to make more money.  I know it all sounds easier said than done, and I know that it's a difficult situation, but you just need to prove to one person that you have changed and that they should give you the opportunity to work and to prove yourself.  Goodl luck!
