I live in Mesa, AZ, and am growing some orange and grapefruit trees, in containers. My mandarin orange is doing quite well, even though still young, and about four feet tall. I was examinging it yesterday, and spotted something black on the leaf, and touched it to see what it was. Well, it jumped at me, and this black and white, cow-spotted alien with a face and eyes, stuck out some orange tentacles, feelers, or whatever! Then I saw a second one - but just the two of them. I watched them off and on during the day, and then this a.m., noticed that an entire branck of leaves was chomped up. Now, normally, I would just eradicate the squatters, however, they have got to be the most interesting things I have ever seen, and the fact that they have extreme attitude is amusing! I guess I would just like to know if you have any idea what these might be. My other citrus trees have no trace of them, and still, I only find the two of them on this tree. I would appreciate any info you may have. Right now they seem to be asleep, or sun bathing possibly. Anyway, they're not eating at the moment, so I will allow them to visit a while longer. Thank you!
