YES…call each of your credit card companies and put a CREDIT FREEZE on your credit card accounts. Then no one can get your credit report to open new credit without  your permission.

Also, carefully scrutinize your monthly statements for misuse of your card.  If you are signed up to monitor your cards online, don't wait for your monthly statement to come in--check your cards now!

File a fraud alert with one of the 3 major credit reporting companies.  Notifying one notifies all three.  I used Equifax at 1-800-525-6285 or fraudalerts.equifax.com.  It's free and the alert is good for 90 days.  New credit will only be given after the creditor confirms the request with you directly via phone or email you give the credit agency.
