Pump it up!

Sticky pasta

After I finish to cook pasta it's becoming sticky. Is there any trick to prevent it?

You can do 1 of these things to prevent it:
  1. After removing the water, insert a chunk of butter or
      olive-oil and mix it together.
  2. before inserting the pasta in the boiling water, insert
      olive-oil and only then insert the pasta.

I like way number 1 better (also tastes better  Wink)

A number of good suggestions already; I'd underline 1) that you might well be cooking it too much; and 2) you need to add something such as olive oil or the sauce after straining.  To elaborate on the 2nd point, timing is key.  When I make pasta, I time it to make sure the sauce is ready first, that can be kept warm on low heat with no harm done, then added as soon as the pasta is ready.

1. It's absolutely critical to use only 100% durum wheat pasta.

2. put salt & oil in the water before boiling.

put olive oil in the water while you cook the pasta run cold water over it also add salt to the water so the pasta doesnt stick together remeber to put the salt in after the water starts to boil and before you put the pasta in the water
