After washing one of my favorite shirts, I found what looks like a gum stain. What is the best way to get this stain out without ruining the shirt?
Used to be possible to use aerosol freezersprays to remove gum from fabric. Don't know if theyr still available. I'd try putting the shirt in the freezer, then try to peel off the gum

If the stain isn't actually a piece of gum, then I swear by always using tide as a detergent and before putting the shirt in the wash spray the spot with a cleaner called "Simply Green." It is an automotive cleaner, but believe me it works on everything from grass stains to blood and
it won't ruin anything.
Good Luck!
I would try the suggestions they give on

I've used WD-40 to get gum out of all kinds of stuff, including carpet, the petroleum base really eats the gum away quickly...but then you have to use a degreaser to remove the WD-40...the earlier suggestion of SimpleGreen works really well on nearly everything (not sure about gum) but it does get engine and 5th wheel grease out of the shirts i wear at work.
