If you include or exclude there will be a problem either way. No matter what you decide, someone is going to protest. Many people think that this is an unfair advantage. If you exclude, then everyone will have to be tested to see “what they are” and I’m sure that’s not going to sit well with most athletes. Then what about the athletes that don’t know that they are hermaphrodites? This just has controversy written all over it.
Mr.Jqna: Those in power knew all along that there was something different about this person. You cannot be at that level of the game and not know something. All I think anyone of them saw was just the "money" that will come with this. I think honesty is the best policy anyone can live by, weather you are man or a woman. There is no controversy as I see it. I say let her com-peat and one day someone will always be faster quicker and smarter that is what sports are all about. Years ago because she is black she might have not even been allow to run in any race. Those is charge should have tested her first and then given the other women in the race the information and let them decide if her running against them mattered. If I know women at all they would have said yes but now there might be some hurt feelings that other women who were in the race who had trained long and hard might feel that this was other form of abuse by those in control and power two things at are used against some in every day life 24 / 7.
What about the “unfair advantage” factor? In some cases when you have both sexes in one, you may have more male hormones and if you are up against a woman in some cases it could be unfair. If they allow this then they should consider allowing people to take hormones.
