The spice of life?
To me, it is that "present moment" sense that we get from active Christian faith. When you really look into what you do -- in detail -- you must stop and really dissect your actual rationale instead of the convenient excuses that you have made for doing or not doing certain things.
Other ways to spice up your life are:
Break out of that comfortable rut you have gotten into.
Stop to smell the flowers -- and then, take out a feather, grab some of its pollen, and see what it does to the flower that you cross-pollinate.
Go into business. That will make your life better, because when you have something to gain, you actually work for it.
Go back to college. Virtually all courses require you take part in teamwork. Learning priceless social skills like leadership will add a needed and vital dimension to your life.
Alternatively, take the staircase down from the Ivory Tower of eggheads who think that they know everything -- because they don't. You will find that the common person on the street has the same amount of knowledge as you do, and what they know will greatly add to your fund of knowledge.
Join a Church or Synogogue. Adding a full dimension (Faith) to your character will jar you to a new and wholesome reality. If you already belong, then join or start a social service activity, throw a fundraiser or two, work with your fellows and devise a direction for your ministry to grow.
Potent minds always have a need for a challenge. That is our destiny. We who create always find inactivity boring. It would be easy for me to look back on a life of accomplishment, but that is complacency. Instead, I work as the Chartering Organization Representative for our Church, with our several Boy Scouting units. If we don't provide them Scouting, they'll only join gangs.
I would much rather host a young man's Eagle Court of Honor than bear witness to his execution.
