"No Spanish" Rule for Hotel Employees

Do you think that a "no Spanish" rule for employees at a hotel in Taos, New Mexico was a bad idea?

I think it's a great idea. Im tired of people not speaking english in front of me here in America. I resent they don't learn our language. or that they cheat the government. They take cash jobs and don't pay tax.

I speak Spanish, have lived in New Mexico and love the culture and history.   Nevertheless, I think the hotel owner has a point on this particular issue. Most of his guests do not understand Spanish. A guest in a house, for example, is uncomfortable if he doesn't understand what people around him are saying. The whole point to a hotel is to make guests comfortable with the surroundings.  So, tenga la bondad! It's not an insult to the culture.

I think that if you come here you need to learn our language. If I go to another country I don't expect them to know what I am saying if I want to communicate I learn their language. The same should apply here. Our national language is english or american if you like so learn our language.
