I don't see my sound icon in my lower right corner and I'm not getting any sound, What do I do?

First of all make sure the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" is ticked under Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices. If you're still having problems check under system (again, in the Control Panel)->hardware tab->Device manager and sound controllers. Double click on your hardware. What is the device status?
