As someone who only recently listened to seriously maybe 3 genres of music, I found something decent here:

Sounds like it's for beginners, but it's generally just a great link on getting into soul and finding some stuff to check out. It's got a lot of great suggestions, not just about what to listen to, but what makes it all classic. Educational, informative and pretty damn witty.
