Sony vgn-nw11s copying dvds

I want to copy my favoutrite dvds on to my new laptop (sony vgn-nw11s) and then onto my ipod classic to take away on holiday. I can't seem to find how to do it. All my cds go easily onto it but not the dvds - please please please can somebody help?????
