What is the the thin film solar roof shingles efficiency of harnessing the solar energy?
Sustainable Energy for healthy grandchildren
Powerlight based in Berkeley CA has a roofing system that achieves from 100 to 150 W / m^2. see

They recently merged with SunPower who makes 14 % efficient panels.
NanoSolar, just starting production has a thin film process but I don't know their efficiency. Their cost / Watt may be the lowest.
Ovonics / ECD has a lower efficiency flexible material once shown on NOVA but with a cost/Watt equivalent to panels.

Thin film solar is getting alot of press lately. The reason is that CIGS technology is getting better and it has also broke the buck ($1.00 per watt). New methods of coating the thin film so as to absorb infrared is being funded hevily. Their prediction is to reach 15% plus in the near future. You may want to look at a metal roof with that sticky label type thin film that just peals and sticks. That way you take your deductions on a 70 year metal roof and just lick and stick that UNi Solar stuff on. It takes up more roof space, but if your metal roof is dark brown or black - you'll never see the solar laminate. Cheap, looks good, works great in the high heat, and you get a cheap metal roof which is typically expensive. In my state, there's a 30% discount.
