My husband is 69 and collecting Social Security. I am 61. Can I also collect based on his earnings record?
According to the Social Security Administration web site, it looks like you could collect based on your husband's earnings record, unless your benefit is higher. There's an FAQ for spouses benefits, which covers several situations. (You might want to call the SSA or ask a lawyer in order to be more sure.)
My Husband Died at the age of 81 and his retirement was an early retirement....I'm 68 and went on disability before retirement age....My check is a little bigger than his but if he would have waited until the age of retirement his would have been bigger than mine....would this have anything to do with me being able to draw more now since he died three weeks ago and mine being a retirement check?
