Small business help!

My husband has a business and we are fighting desperately to keep it going. We need to pay down some of the debts but have no idea where to begin or if it is worth it. He is 50 and never worked anywhere else and is afraid of trying to go and work for someone else...which I feel is the best thing to do. have gone at least 8-10 weeks this year without a paycheck...what should we do?

There is also the problem of your husband's age because most employers would rather hire younger people. But business people have generally acquired valuable experience running a business. I know people who had stores that they closed and went to work as sales people for large chains. But about your debts; you should consult a good accountant who could advise you

You may also want to contact a credit counseling service. They often can reduce the amount you owe to creditors and can also set up a workable budget for you. Before contacting one though, please read the information at this site first.

I know you are going through a very scary and trying time right now, but please do not start looking for the get rich schemes and scams flooding the internet. Such as the one fron the first respondent.

Good luck and best wishes.

No income at all can damage a relationship. Try to stay strong and open about everything, it is very important to communicate during these times. Let each other in on everything especially financial problems. Tell your husband you are there for him I think it is important for him to hear it know. Also try commencing  small changes in your lifestyle , try to reduce your expenses (electricity, gasoline etc). There are always places you can cut back start small nothing big and drastic a couple hundred bucks a week can really help.
