what would cause a 5-speed car to struggle going uphill? It a honda accord and even downshifting didn't produce any additional power. It almost felt like the car wasn't even running. It has never done this before. Besides this it runs beautifully and really smooth. It just had no power climbing hills.
Have you checked or changed the Air Filter?

It seems to me that if the grade is extremly uphill, The car should be in 1st gear, this gear is the bear to get through rough time where there is an upgrade.
Hey Vinny
I down shifted to 2nd and then first but did not get the usual thrust that I used to get when doing this. I've driving 5 speeds for 25yrs..... To me, I almost thought the car had stalled or something.....that's how much lack of energy it had.....never had my accord performed like this before and I know it really well. I drive a RAV 4 most of the time and my daughter drives the accord but usually I always sense when something is wrong. Thanks
Try air filter, gas filter or even bad fuel load.
Hi there again, This is Vinny again,
Have you changed the fuel filter yet, or test the fuel pump pressure?
Do it soon, its important to solving your problem.
Vinny (ASE) Cert
Plugs n wires first, a new distributor might help.....Or if the lil car has about 250k-300k actual miles on it then it's time to put a new timing chain and gear set on it.Hahaha or "Belt, pully, tensioner" worked on a few cars that had timing belts. Car might seem to be running fine but lack of power usually points to a miss in timing.... Off several degree's on the firing order........ Guy at auto-zone can check it for you if ya dont have a timing light.
