Slow Text Editing with Linked Text Boxes in CS2

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS2 and have very slow performance when using linked text boxes. If I have to insert a line of text it take a very long time to redisplay the changes. Also it is very slow to unlink or re-link text boxes
