Sleepless and sad in a big city

I am 60 y/o long time divorced woman and I feel that I have a very poor quailty of life. I have gained over 50 lbs in the last few years and struggle with my job. I don't have any savings and I can't sleep without taking something to help me and even then I wake up almost shocked with a fear of helpness and with no one to turn to. I have children but they have their own lives. I don't feel very good or positive about how I look and it's a problem for me to move forward. Who wants to deal with someone who lacks spirit?

It sounds like that you need to regain your self confidence. Without self confidence we start to doubt ourselves and our abilities, we also build up the stress and anxiety in our lives.

It would take more room than I have here to cover everything in detail, so what I would like to do is to provide you with free publications that I feel will benefit you. You have to get out into the world to regain self-confidence and enhance your self-image. Try to find volunteer activities helping others. Volunteering is also an excellent vehicle for making new friends. When you see that you are succeeding and receiving thanks for your effort I am sure you will feel better about yourself. When you don't go out and stay mostly by yourself except for your job you are associating with only one person YOU.

Ah today the world is only waiting for people that want to open up and make a change in their dull aimless life.

I reccomend you treat yourself to a self empowerment course such as "the possibility of woman" by dr carol maccall, or the "I am" if you can find it. ask around your neiborhood or your friends or friend's children (I mean people age 25 and up) about a course that gives you a basic coaching. Pat Grove's "coaching in action" is also highly effective.

what all this can do for you is focus you on a target you choose in your life. wether it is some form of creativity you long forgot you had, or helping other people in the word who's situation is even worse than yours. being in contact with you own true value and focusing on how the world can benefit from having you around - that may get you going again.

all the best dear woman. I am sure we shall hear your voice again.
