$res does not get returned as VERIFIED or INVALID for "Refunds", is...

I am using the PayPal provided script for IPNs and it appears that "Refunds" are not being caught , but, $res does not equal "VERIFIED" or "INVALID" for refunds. It works fine for payments, anyone _number); } else if ($payment_status == 'Refunded') { unconfirmRegistration($$item_number
