How Many Sit Ups Per Day?

How many sit ups I should do a day to get maximum affect? Iwant a six-pack tummy, but I've been doing sit ups for a few weeks and see no results.

Should I increase the number of sit ups I do every day?

Every story has an end but in life, every end is just a new beginning.

Increasing the number of sit-ups you do will not likely help you achieve the six-pack you are looking for. It's likely that you are not seeing results because there is fat concentrated in your stomach area that will not allow you to show the outside world the six-pack you're looking for. I'd suggest cutting back on the ab exercises and start doing cardio activities that. That will likely allow you to decrease the fat concentration in the stomach region and also make doing sit-ups more effective.

You might want to try some different types of exercises instead of just crunches. There's tons of stuff you can do at home, without having to go to the gym, that will help you get those 6-pack abs. I've used some of the exercises in this

How to Get Six Pack Abs video series and I've had decent results.

The key to a six pack is a low body fat percentage...  Not to say that you should be training the abdominals, because you should... But no matter how many ab exercises you perform, they won't be visible unless you have a very low body fat percentage.

Best of luck!

"To assist someone else in succeeding is to insure one's own success."

First, let me commend you for your dedication to your dream. Having said that let me inject a couple of points:

  • It is possible to over-train the abs. The ads are muscles and should be trained as a muscle. More does not always mean better. 3 sets of 20-25 reps @ 3 days a week can produce great results.
  • You may be surprised to learn that the six-pack may already be there, but you just can't see them as you would like because of the cover. You need to "take the lid off." Laughing How do you do this? Through cardio and nutrition. You might want to incorporate 4 or 5 days (minimum) of cardio to get the heart rate up. The cardio workouts should last about 45 minutes and at least 20 minutes of that should be in the THR (Target Heart Range). As for the nutrition, a pretty good rule (unless your physician prescribes otherwise) would be to keep the fat intake to about 20-25% of the total calorie intake and balance out the rest with your protein and carbohydrate intake (trying to keep them about equal = maybe about 40% each of total calorie intake).
  • Commercial time (Laughing). I have produced a fitness eBook that goes into detail in explaining all of the above and more AND it is written in understandable, practical language. Info can be found at www.fitnessbasics101.com
